Saora's Benediction Epilogue

The surrounding darkness cooled his wounds. It left him comforted, at ease. He'd forgotten the taste of true death and the simple sleep that accompanied it. It was calming. It was peace.       Fire shot through his chest. His lungs gasped at the pain, sucking in air his brain suddenly hungered for. He coughed and gasped again. The pain was unreal. The fire forced freezing air through his lungs faster than he wanted. Still coughing, he forced his body to move. It rolled to his stomach. He propped himself up on his elbows. Stickly liquid dripped from his mouth with each cough.

Saora's Benediction: Icecrown Citadel (10)

The blood magic holding the Alliance and Horde armies overhead vanished. Bodies dropped to the stone floor, some still frozen but most thawed enough to catch themselves on their hands and feet. Groans and gasps echoed across the platform as the fighters struggled to collect themselves.    Saora’s fingers quivered as the Light faded between them. Her legs buckled, and she would have collapsed if Jaybird had not caught her. She felt so weak, so very empty. The absence of the Light sometimes felt like that, so the priestess knew she would recover. Her trembling hand patted her husband’s arm, and he lowered h

Fall of Gnomer 6 - End

"We were surprised at the silence of Gnomeregan durin' the Third War, High Tinker.  Had we known of the treachery underground, we would've sent aid."     Magni Bronzebeard settled back in his massive stone throne, thick and calloused fingers stroking his long, red beard.  He could barely believe the story he heard, the invasion and annihilation of one of his strongest allies.  Still, he'd never seen so many gnomes in one place before.  Hundreds of them swarmed through his gates just a few hours ago.  The masses overpopulated Ironforge, their tiny bodies

Protector Chapter 14

Robin stared at his former enemy. It never occurred to him that he was the cause of all this. It didn't make any sense. Cain didn't know him. Robin and Cain had never even fought one another. The only connection to Cain he even had were the crime scenes around Blüdhaven and Batgirl.     Then it clicked. Cain's last major job in Gotham turned out to be nothing more than a test. He wanted to see if Batman was a suitable "guardian" for his daughter. What if he was testing Robin now? It made sense, in a crazy kind of way. Batgirl moved to Blüdhaven not long after Robin. A psychotic stalker, o

Demons in Lucina 1

The sky never sleeps. A raging sea of purples and darkness swirls overhead every day, every night. Clouds push and shove one another, flashing angrily, cracking insults as they fight for position. They darken where they fight hardest. Swirling together over the remains of a building, the brawlers meld into a single black mass. There's a brief pause, a moment for a single gasp of air, then –     KRAK     From the darkness snaps a brilliant line of blue light. It soars to the broken building and envelops it. The structure rattles and groans, the concrete and metal echoing th

Baen of Magic Chapter 7

Baen lowered her horns as she charged, eager to open a hole in the traitor queen's gut. She mounted the steps within a calf's breath. She was fast but Sylvanas was faster.    The Forsaken Queen used her bow to deflect the warrior's horns and slightly change the path of the charge. Baen growled as her head twisted away but felt the undead lose her balance. With a start she realized that while Sylvanas had speed, Baen had strength. And now the Banshee Queen was too close to dodge. Spinning mid-charge, Baen swung her sword at her target. With a clang she hit something much harder than flesh. Her hooves dug into the wooden floor, kicking up

Enhanced - Full Pitch

My name is Coryn. I'm an Enhanced. Years ago, someone went into my brain to make me better than human. They took natural abilities I had, such as being sensitive to the feelings of those around me, and magnified them. Now I feel what anyone around me feels, even trees and inorganics. I'm a Receiver. I live with my sister Cheryl, a Copier, and our friend Guy, a Lifter. We're all Mind - Enhanced.     Not everyone can be Enhanced. Most people can't take their brains being messed with. Whoever made us also made the Wretched. Brainless and completely mad, they can tear apart an entire building with thei
